Letter to teachers

Attention: Seventh Grade Teachers

You have three methods to register--with the on-line form linked below, with a downloadable MS Word file (fill out, print, and mail, or attach to e-mail to spreston2@unl.edu) or fill out and mail the hard copy your school received. Pictures will be taken during the conference and as a group attending. If you need additional information from the parents, a sample permission slip follows explaining permission to use photos. You and your seventh grade students are invited to attend a Money Camp on April 11, 2008 at the Lifelong Learning Center, Norfolk.

This interactive financial management program is designed to help 7th grade students become better prepared to make financial decisions as young adults.

Schools should bring one adult for every ten students. Teachers/adults will work with students to develop financial skills and put them into practice throughout the day in a real world simulation.

The students will:
  • Experience a real life simulation where youth can express their views on financial resources and learn the impact on future decisions
  • Learn about the psychology of money
  • Be able to make wise credit choices
  • Gain a better understanding of family finances
  • Realize the limits of financial resources both within the family and as a young adult.
  • Have fun learning together

- 2 hours Students will participate in a real life simulation where they are individuals or in families to manage in th
e "REAL WORLD"
   
  Program Block II:
Credit for Today - 1 hour
- Students learn the impact of credit used today on lifestyle tomorrow
   and
  Money and the Mind - 1 hour - Making the first car purchase is used to illustrate the impact of the mind on decision made as teens and adults.

    Note: Students are divided into 2 groups. Both groups will participate in both program blocks, alternating between Block I & II.
