Nutrition: Getting the Most from your Nutrients

The goal for this course is to learn what makes a healthy nutrition plan the nutrient way.

In this course you learn why nutrition is important, and what else the body needs to grow. Knowing how to use the Food Guide Pyramid can help the body grow and give the body the energy it needs to get through the day. Various nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water are covered in the course. There is general information on all of these very beneficial nutrients. The major functions of each nutrient and where to find each one is highlighted in each section. It lists several different vitamins and what they give the body. Sources of vitamins and minerals are mentioned. Dietary guidelines are highlighted in a no-nonsense way. Just follow the ABC's of good health, and the Food Guide Pyramid's recommendations on serving amounts. The difference between the labels on the food and the labels from the Food Guide Pyramid is also highlighted.
