Food safety and sanitation are emerging issues for child care provider due to the facts that:

children under 5 years old are especially susceptible to foodborne illness, which can cause serious side-effects, even death. (immune systems are not fully developed in children)

Children in diapers present special sanitation and health problems. For instance, illness originally caused by foodborne bacteria can easily be spread by diapered children with diarrhea
