Nutrition for Young Children

This course covers the child from ages 2-6. Following the Food Guide Pyramid can help clear up any confusion on what is good for the child and what will make the child grow into a happy, healthy individual. Recommendations and choices for each food group can be found in this course. The things that children need less of are also covered, like fats and sugars. Fiber is a good thing for children. Recommendations are listed for your convenience. Snack time for the little ones can be okay, just follow the Food Guide Pyramid. Examples are given, along with tips on how to make meals more enjoyable for everyone. Precautions for choking are also covered and what to do if something like that occurs is briefly discussed. Daily exercise is good for everyone. Encourage children to be active under supervision. Make up fun games or activities that everyone can get involved in. Nutrition is very important in this stage when children are beginning to grow.
