Here is a reminder that the Haskell Ag Lab 50th Anniversary open house will be Tuesday, August 14, from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Everyone is welcome and remember there is a free feed during the lunch period. This is a short letter because we have covered about anything that will happen in the next couple of weeks. European corn borer moth flights are once again very low and most non-Bt fields will be safe from economic damage. Check for spider mites in corn and soybeans. Soybean aphids are the number one concern since they can still build up in the next couple of weeks. Try to get in your fields at least two times a week to make sure soybean aphid numbers do not reach economic thresholds. Bean leaf beetles have been defoliating beans and are probably close to peak feeding. Bean leaf beetle numbers will drop off before the last generation occurs in the latter part of August.
