Research/Extension Areas of Interest:
Efforts include development and utilization of effective growth promoting implant systems. This research was unique in that it characterized lifetime implant responses in cattle. This research currently serves as the foundation for birth to slaughter implant strategies used today. I have also been actively involved in evaluating management strategies that can be used to minimize environmental stress in feedlot cattle. As part of these efforts, I coordinate several multi-discipline research projects (USDA-NRI and DOE-NIGEC) and participate in international efforts designed to better predict, plan for, and minimize effects of adverse weather on livestock.
