Research/Extension
Area of Emphasis:
Dr. Shapiro
emphasizes crop nutrient management in research and public education
programs. Managing nutrients for crop production effectively increases
profit for the producer and reduces the potential for off-site contamination.
Recommended practices are derived from research conducted at the Haskell
Ag. Lab and on cooperating farmer fields. Nutrient management
takes into account the native fertility of the soil resource, credits
from many sources and efficient application methods.
